Arsenal offer Sagna more money to ward off interest

CONTRACT OFFER: Sagna, top, in action against Tottenham (PA)

BACARY SAGNA has been offered a lucrative new contract extension to stay at Arsenal as several other clubs have expressed a desire in signing the right-back.

It is reported that the French defender has been given an option of signing a two-year deal worth £75,000 a week, with the possibility of a third year added in.

But it could still be an impasse as Sagna is understood to be holding out for £100,000 a week.

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing the 31-year-old this summer if no agreement can be made between him and Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger would loath to see Sagna leave on a free at the end of the season, while other European clubs, including Monaco and Paris St Germain, are considering bids for the full-back.

Sagna is a key player to Arsenal and the north London club would find it difficult to replace him with a defender that matches his quality.
