Black stars dominate London power list

POPULAR: Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Anthony Joshua

MEGHAN, THE Duchess of Sussex, Idris Elba, Stormzy and Diane Abbott are among the stars who’ve been ranked in the top 30 of London’s power list of the 100 most influential figures in the city.

The 2019 London Power 100, which has been released today (Mar 1), is set out to celebrate and identify the 100 most powerful and influential people in London.

In a speech this morning, London Power 100 president Nicholas Taylor welcomed the list saying: “As expected there are some familiar faces across Royalty, Politics, Business and Media appearing and some less well known individuals who have made their way into the list for their substantial contributions they have made over the last 12 months in their respective fields. ”

The process for selecting the key figures is through open nominations and recommendations by members of the public, which are then assembled into 150 names of candidates across 6 sectors. London Power 100 staff then pick around 18 finalists for each sector who at this point are in no particular order.

Finally, a judging panel overseen by Taylor independently puts the candidates in order of the most influential right down to the least. A full and final list is then delivered to LondonPower100’s President who assess all names put forward before the list is released.

The black stars populating the list, include: Anthony Joshua, Sir Mo Farah, Shaun Bailey, Krept & Konan, Chuka Umunna MP, Dillian Whyte, Edward Enninful, Gina Miller, Naomie Harris, Dina Asher-Smith, Wiley, Jourdan Dunn, Letitia Wright, Jamal Edwards, Tinie Tempah, Michael Dapaah, Thandie Newton and Femi Oluwole.
