Blackpool sack Paul Ince after only 11 months

SACKED: Paul Ince (PA)

PAUL INCE has been fired as manager from Blackpool following a run of poor form in the Championship in which his side remained winless since November.

The 46-year-old ex-England international lasted a mere 11 months at the helm after he was appointed boss in February 2013 to replace Michael Appleton, who moved to Blackburn.

According to reports, Ince was informed of the decision to let him go by text message.

Blackpool started the season well, topping the table after winning five of their first six games, but a massive dive in form has left the Tangerines without a single win since November 30.

The club is 14th in the table with 33 points after playing 26 games.

In a statement issued today (Jan 21), the club said: "Blackpool Football Club can confirm that manager Paul Ince and assistants Alex Rae and Steve Thompson have had their contracts terminated with immediate effect.

"Barry Ferguson will take charge of training when the players return on Thursday."

The sacking will cause speculation about the future of Ince's son Thomas, who is a highly-rated winger at Bloomfield Road.
