THE BODY of a beautician who was reported missing in Jamaica has been found by police, it has been reported.

Karen Cleary’s body was found buried in a shallow grave on her property on the island.

The 44-year-old, who was born in Jamaica but had lived in Islington for almost 20 years, went missing on November 25. According to reports, Cleary was last seen in a black SUV with three people.

She had been in the process of building her dream home in Boscobel, St Mary, for herself and her partner of 13 years, Andy Kane.

Kane, 56, travelled to Jamaica on Saturday to search for Cleary.

On Facebook, Kane wrote: "Since last Tuesday when I found out Karen Cleary was missing I've had a feeling that the Freight Train of reality was barrelling down the tracks towards me.

"Today it pains to say that train hit me hard I am so sorry to pass on the news that today after a painstaking search by the Jamaican police team that the time for hope and optimism has unfortunately passed, they have recovered her body, Karen has now gone on to a better place.

"Karen has been that shining star in my world for over 13 years, that world has now turned very dark indeed."

Kane later said that Jamaican police were “holding” a “prime suspect” in relation to her disappearance.

He praised the local police for doing a great job in investigating what happened to Cleary.

“I would like to thank the JCF [Jamaica Constabulary Force] for their fantastic efforts in bring this case to the point we are and I am convinced Karen will get justice. Especially I would like to thank Ms Williams the person in charge of the investigation and also Detective Harrison for the way they have kept us informed,” he said.
