British basketballer creates NBA history

DETROIT PISTIONS and Team GB basketballer Ben Gordon equalled an NBA record in this morning’s (March 22) 116-115 loss to Denver Nuggets.

Guard Gordon, who also matched his personal best of 45 points in a match, equalled Latrell Sprewell’s achievement of scoring all nine of their three-point attempts.

Born in London but raised in New York, Gordon, 28, and Sprewell are the only two players to achieve this feat in NBA history.

“The guy was freakin' off the charts,” said Pistons coach Lawrence Frank.

“Not only did he make shots, he made plays. You can't say enough positive adjectives about the job he did. He was phenomenal."

Gordon's 45 point haul was a season high and the most he has scored since joining the Pistons in 2009.

He also added eight assists, but it was not enough for the victory.
