BT'S SPORT Industry Awards has introduced a new category which will debut at their 2018 ceremony, the Diversity and Inclusion Award, in order to acknowledge organisations that make a stand for inclusivity.

The awards are the largest commercial sports awards in the world and have been going since 2014 and have paid homage to stars such as Jessica Ennis-Hill and brands including Channel 4 and Adidas.

Alex Coulson, executive director of Sport Industry Group, organisers of the BT Sport Industry Awards, explained:

“Everybody knows that a diverse and inclusive process – in whatever area of sport you are in – leads to improved results.

“What the addition of this new category aims to achieve is highlighting some of the best examples across the industry that can show how it has improved results, and why diversity and inclusion is so crucial to our sector.”

The awards can be entered by agencies, brands, broadcasters, event organisers, governing bodies, leagues, rights holders, teams, venues and others connected to sport, for their internally or externally-facing work.

Open for entries until November 30, 2017, other new category additions include the Best Use of Analytics, Data or Research Award; Digital Community of the Year; Film Content of the Year; Performance Technology of the Year; and Sustainability Initiative of the Year.

Bringing together sports stars, celebrities, senior decision makers, influencers and global media, the industry’s most anticipated night of the year celebrates the very best work from across the sector. The famous trophies are awarded on-stage in front of a sell-out crowd of 1,700 guests at the star-studded event, held annually in London.

The BT Sport Industry Awards Judging Process is one of the most transparent and stringent procedures of its kind with over 60 hours of intensive judging.

Conducted in two stages and all overseen by EY, the process begins with the entries being reviewed and judged by the Official Steering Committee, featuring figureheads and industry heavyweights, to produce the Official Shortlist.

The BT Sport Industry Awards Judging Panel will then decide the final winner of each category announced at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2018 - the most prestigious commercial sports awards in Europe. To find out more about the extensive judging process, click here.

Tables are also available for the black-tie event on April 26, 2018 with prices frozen for all packages. For more information and purchases, click here.
