Caribbean Airlines to fly from UK

GET SET TO FLY: Checking in at Caribbean Airlines.

CARIBBEAN AIRLINES, the region’s number one carrier, has announced plans to start flying non-stop from Gatwick Airport, London to Piarco International Airport, Port of Spain, Trinidad on June 15, with four weekly flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays which depart London at 11:50 a.m. local time.

This will be followed shortly on June 30 by thrice weekly services to Bridgetown, Barbados and onward to Trinidad thus facilitating a daily service to Trinidad. The Barbados flight will be launched in the summer of 2012. Both services will be operated by a 767 – 300 ER aircraft with a two class configuration of Business and Economy.

Customers eager to take up the new service can start booking with their local travel agents as tickets are now available for purchase as of March 15 or via the airline’s booking centre.

In announcing the new service, Caribbean Airlines’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Robert Corbie said: “We are extremely happy to announce the start up of our service from Gatwick to Piarco International Airport as our flights will provide a vital link between London and the Caribbean, and we are well positioned strategically to become the preferred airline for all customers flying between London and the Caribbean with seamless connections to South America.”

Caribbean Airlines has an extensive route network and the UK addition will further facilitate onward connections to Georgetown, Guyana, Paramaribo, Suriname, Caracas, Venezuela, Antigua, Grenada, St Maarten, St Lucia, Kingston and Montego Bay, Jamaica. The airline also offers wide coverage of North America via New York, Miami, Toronto, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, and has been twice voted the ‘Caribbean’s Leading Airline’ by International Travel Agents at the World Travel Awards.

A release from the airline further states that customers can look forward to a reliable service served with natural Caribbean warmth, ethnic gourmet cuisines and great value added benefits including frequent flyer Caribbean miles and complimentary bags.

“Whether you are visiting family and friends, or travelling on business, Caribbean Airlines will make your travel experience a memorable one. Added to that, booking your all inclusive travel packages from London for a Caribbean holiday can be done via our website at,” the release concludes.

Caribbean Airlines began operating in 2007 after the closure of BWIA, taking up the routes which the former operated. In May 2010 the airline expanded following the purchase of Air Jamaica to make it the region’s largest carrier.
