Caribbean products shine at food awards

THREE CARIBBEAN products have helped the companies that developed or distribute them get top prizes at the recently held Third World Food Awards.

Supermarket giant Tesco walked away with the gong for Product of the Year for its newly launched African-Caribbean soft drinks brand called Jammin’.

‘It was created as a direct result of feedback and input from Tesco customers,’ Tesco said in a statement. It also received the East End Foods Best National Retailer award at this year’s Awards, which were hosted by comedian Lenny Henry.

A drink inspired by reggae legend Bob Marley, called Marley’s Mellow Moods, won Grace Food UK Limited a top prize - the Morrisons Best Packaging of the Year award. Grace Foods distributes the drink in the UK.

Other winners included leading drinks brand Rubicon and its creative agency Minimart. Rubicon received recognition for their groundbreaking campaign to ‘make Britain more exotic’ during the Rubicon Summer of Cricket. They walked away with the Jaguar Marketing Campaign of the Year award.
