Chi Onwurah MP looking for intern to join her in Parliament

CHI ONWURAH, MP for Newcastle Central and shadow minister for culture and the digital economy, is looking for an “enthusiastic and hard-working” intern to work in her Parliamentary office.

While experience is not necessary, ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the issues important to Newcastle and the north-east and share an interest in Onwurah's policy portfolio and wider political interests.

Onwurah was very active in the Anti-Apartheid Movement, and spent many years on its National Executive, and that of its successor organisation, ACTSA.

She also joined the Advisory Board of the Open University Business School.

She was elected to Parliament in 2010 with a majority of 7466.

The successful candidate will be paid the living wage of £9.40 an hour and be required to take up the full-time for 20 weeks, or four days a week for six months.

Responsibilities will include carrying out research into policy issues, working on policy campaigns and supporting general office administration duties.

Applicants are asked to email their CV and a covering letter explaining why you would be suitable for the role to Mark Simmonds

Interviews will be held in the first week of February. Starting dates will be soon as possible after that. Interviews will be either in London or over skype.
