Chris Hughton to join the Canaries?

BIRMINGHAM CITY manager Chris Hughton looks set to join Norwich City after being given permission by the West Midlands side to speak to the Premier League outfit.

Norwich are without a manager after Paul Lambert left the Canaries for Aston Villa on June 2.

Former Newcastle United manager Hughton was appointed Birmingham City boss on June 2011 where they reached the Championship play-off semi-finals in May but lost to Blackpool 3-2 on aggregate.

Hughton, who played for Republic of Ireland and Tottenham Hotspurs during his career, won promotion with Newcastle during the 2009/10 Championship season with a record breaking points tally of 102 but was sacked by the board on December 2010 even though the Magpies were 11th in the Premier League at the time.

After gaining two consecutive promotions, Norwich ended this season in 12th place in the Premier League.
