Chucky Venn to leave Albert Square

UK ACTOR Chucky Venn will leave soap opera Eastenders in June, according to Digital Spy.

Venn, who has played the role of Ray Dixon since early 2012, will be written out of the show in the summer.

The storyline involving Dixon – who is the father of Morgan Butcher and former boyfriend of Kim Fox, played by Tameka Empson – sees him leaving to be closer to his daughter Sasha as the child’s mother falls ill.

Speaking about his departure from Albert Square, Venn told Digital Spy: “"Working on EastEnders has been one of my career highlights and an invaluable experience.

"I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with and have found a life-long friend in my on-screen partner Tameka. I want to thank everyone who supported me on the show."

A source from the long-running BBC programme told the Inside Soap: "The door will be left open for Ray. Chucky has been a great cast member and a pleasure to work with.

"Ray's always going to be connected to Walford while Morgan is there - and who knows, he may pay his little lad a visit one day in the future."
