Deng's an All Star

HONOUR: Luol Deng

LUOL DENG has become the first ever British player to make the NBA All Star team. Deng has become only the 14th Chicago Bull player selected for the Eastern Conference team, alongside his point guard, Derrick Rose. It is the first time since 1997 that Chicago have had two of their roster in the All Star team

Deng, 26, joined the Bulls in 2004 after moving to America at the age of 14 and attending the prestigious Duke University. His coach, Tom Thibodeau has regularly described him as the glue that holds the Bulls together. While Eric Bressman of respected Basketball magazine, Dime, described him as the most underrated player last year.

A delighted Deng posted on his Twitter account: 'Words can't describe how happy I am to make my first All-Star team. Thanks to all my supporters, especially the coaches who voted for me.'

The accolade will give the former Brixton resident a great boost prior to London 2012, where he is due to appear with the Great British Basketball Team.
