Derulo revealed as MOBO host

HONOURED: Jason Derulo says he is excited about hosting the upcoming MOBO awards

AMERICAN SINGER Jason Derulo has just been revealed as one of the hosts for this year's MOBO Awards.

The 21-year-old, who burst onto the scene in 2009 with his catchy debut single, Whatcha Say, will be joined by female celebrity, yet unnamed, at the annual ceremony.

The R'n'B crooner said he is both excited and looking forward to the October event.

“It’s a real honour to be presenting and performing at the MOBO Awards this year. It’s such a huge event to be part of and I’m super excited to come back to the UK, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said in a statement.

However, there were some that were not so thrilled about the Miami singer's appointment. Social networking site, Twitter, was ablaze with reactions.

"THANK GOD FOR THE MOBOS! CELEBRATING BRITISH MUSIC! .....hosted by Jason Derulo," said user, djlogansama Logan Sama.

While MelissaMono added: "Why is Jason Derulo hosting the @moboawards when there are 101 black UK stars who could do a better job?"

"I can't believe MOBO's got Jason Derulo to host I would have preferred JLS....woah did I just say that?," VexInTheCityUK added.

This year's MOBO Awards will take place on October 5 in at the SECC Glasgow and will feature performances from artists, Jessie J, Katy B and American R'n'B singer Alexis Jordan.
