A Diversity Carnival is coming to Belfast

CELEBRATION: Diversity Carnival in Belfast

BELFAST IS set to host a diversity carnival this September in Belfast City Centre.

The Diversity Carnival is a “fun, free, family friendly event that is supported by NICRAS, the Stronger Together Network, ArtsEkta, NI Somali Association, Indian Community, Centre, trade unions and many more.”

Speaking ahead of the Diversity Carnival, Chair of United Against Racism Belfast, Ivanka Antova, said: "We at UAR believe that diversity is something to be celebrated. We are organising the Diversity Carnival to showcase how fantastically diverse our city is and to say clearly: everyone is welcome here, regardless of the colour of their skin or the community they come from.

"It will be a colourful, music-filled and family friendly walk to City Hall, and a wonderful opportunity for people from all walks of life to stand together, united against racism.

"We have been amazed by the support for the Diversity Carnival so far. We have been endorsed by trade unions and BME organisations, including NIPSA, Unite the Union, the NI Somali Association, NICRAS, ArtsEkta, the Indian Culture Centre and more.

"We look forward to joining them and the people of Belfast to celebrate diversity this September."

The Diversity Carnival will take place on Saturday, September 1, assembling at 1pm in Writers Square before marching together to Belfast City Hall.
