Drake leads BET Hip-Hop nominations with eleven nods

IT'S BEEN a pretty busy and intense summer for Drake. From his rap beef with Pusha T and the release of his highly anticipated album Scorpion to the blackface backlash and the surprising reveal of his young son - the Canadian rapper has been making headlines for both his personal and professional life.

But despite the lows, Drizzy continues to come out on top, as he leads with eleven nominations at the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

The rapper is nominated in categories including Best Hip-Hop Video and Single of the Year for God’s Plan, as well as Album of the Year for Scorpion.

Drake faces some tough competition from Cardi B, who received ten nominations and will battle it out with Drake to win Best Hip-Hop Video and Single of the Year for I Like It, and Album of the Year for Invasion of Privacy.

Childish Gambino is next in the list of top nominees, as he's nominated in six categories, while Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar will be hoping to take home a maximum of five gongs.

J.Cole, Post Malone and Beyonce and JAY-Z's The Carters have also received nominations at the awards, which will return to The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theatre on October 6, and BET Networks will premiere the award ceremony on October 16.

Drake's eleven nods come amidst the rapper's successful tour Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour which is seeing the In My Feelings hitmaker perform across America, alongside news that Scorpion is so far the best-selling hip-hop album of 2018, with $2.3 million sales.
