Eagle Darius Defoe set to soar for another season

NEW DEAL: Darius Defoe of the Newcastle Eagles

NEWCASTLE EAGLES centre Darius Defoe has signed up for his eighth season on Tyneside. The 6'8" Londoner has played a part in all 17 of the Eagles trophy wins in the last eight seasons.
The Eagles are delighted to welcome back the 27-year-old who last season was voted Most Improved Player by the clubs fans during the sides clean sweep season. During the course of his time with the Eagles Defoe has improved year on year most noticeably his outside shooting. In recent times he has taken on more of a leadership role within the team. Defoe averages over 12 points and 8 rebounds per game, making him one of most valuable British big men in the league.
Player coach Fab Flournoy could not hide his delight at the signing of Defoe. "Darius is a critical part of our unit. I am really pleased we are able to bring him back for next year.

"Adding him to Charles and Joe really means that we have a head start with our continuity. I expect Darius to have another excellent year and to impose himself as one of the best centres in the league."
