NELSON MANDELA'S personal chef has released a cookbook filled with the former President's favourite's dishes, it has been revealed.

Xoliswa Ndoyiya, who has been cooking for Mr. Mandela and his family for 20 years, is gearing to give people a taste of what the Nobel Peace Prize laureate enjoys eating.

"Tata [Nelson] Mandela has told me that every time I make umphokoqo [sour milk] for him, he remembers his mother cooking this dish for him with love," she writes in her book.

The cookbook, titled Ukutya Kwasekhaya [home cooking] - Tastes from Nelson Mandela's Kitchen, includes the former statesman's favourite recipes such as chicken soup, umqusho (maize and beans) and umsila wenkomo (oxtail stew).

Ndoyiya, who is referred to by the Mandela family as simply as 'Xoli', was introduced to Mandela shortly after his release from prison in 1990 and began working for the family two years later.
