EVENT: GIDA Live relaunch

GIDA COLLECTIVE have brought back their celebrated monthly spoken word and open mic event known as Gida Live.

The event, which takes place on March 30, 2019 will provide visitors with a chilled ambience filled with soul, jazz and funk.

From 1pm - 5pm, attendees will be able to enjoy the afternoon festivities, with a healthy option-infused tea and a slice of yummy homemade cake, or you try some wholesome food supplied by the Tasty Jerk Catering Crew then wash it down with a cool beer, juice, wine or a different flavoured tea.

During the event, a Q&A session with international and critically acclaimed wire and papier mache sculptors Carl Lyn Gabriel will take place at 2pm. Here you will be able to interact with this engaging Trinidadian couple whilst they demonstrate and talk about their passion for making these intricate creations. If you've been to carnival, you would have surely seen some of their masterpieces.

Caricature and Portrait artist Morris Thompson will also be on hand to capture your pose and draw a quick takeaway poster at an introductory price whilst promoting his forthcoming art classes.

From 7pm, GIDA Live really kicks off, with a night of spoken word, poetry and open mic, led by Uncle Errol who will be on hosting duties. For £5, guests will be able to hear the likes of Sheda, Alexander Williams, Dee Morrison, Lantern Carrier, Juwon Ogungbe, Beadyman poet and Harlequin Pieces.
