Flower display for the world’s fastest

USAIN BOLT will be one of 10 athletes celebrated in a floral display by Birmingham City Council later this month.

The second city’s university will play host to the Jamaican track and field team later this month, as they prepare for London 2012.

The full-size figure of Bolt in his famous victory pose took three weeks to make from wicker, and will be displayed in Victoria Square.

The unique representations will be unveiled prior to the Olympic torch’s arrival on June 30.

Paralympian Jordanne Whiley, Great Britain's number one ladies wheelchair tennis player, will be the focus of another display as will gymnasts and fencers.

The city council’s parks team – who created the installations – took the gold award at the last Chelsea Flower Show for their innovative creations.
