Founder of black nude underwear line up for business award

NOMINATED: Founder of Nubian Skin Ade Hassan

THE FOUNDER of an innovative nude underwear brand for women of colour has been nominated for a top business award.

Nubian Skin’s creator, Ade Hassan, is a finalist in the Entrepreneur category of the Black British Business Awards (BBBA) 2016.

"Nubian Skin is delighted that Ade has been recognised for her exceptional talents as an entrepreneur and look forward to the event later this year," the underwear company told The Voice.

"Ade has brought a truly innovative product to the market which was much needed not just as a fashion necessity but also on a social level. Within the lingerie industry, the scope for innovation is a bit limited, and Nubian Skin managed to do something that had an impact beyond itself."

BBBA recognises, rewards and celebrates exceptional performance and outstanding achievements of black people in businesses operating in Britain and are the only premium awards programme to do so. The awards show was designed to support and promote business excellence, transcend stereotypes and highlight the often unsung contributions of black business people to the British economy.

The third BBBAs ceremony will be held at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel on October 6. The 37-strong list is a mix of established leaders and rising stars in the financial services, media and arts, professional services, science and technology, and consumer and luxury goods sectors, as well as entrepreneurs who started their own businesses.
