FOUR MEN have been charged in connection with the murder of US rapper XXXtentacion.

The Miami born artist - real name is Janseh Dwayne Onfroy - died on June 18 after suffering from gunshot wounds.

Broward County panel has indicted four men - Dedrick Williams, 22, Michael Boatwright, 22, Trayvon Newsome, 20, and Robert Allen, 22 - on first-degree murder and armed robbery charges.

According to the Evening Standard, it is alleged that a car, driven by XXXTentacion, was blocked by a dark-coloured SUV as it was exiting the River Motor Sports motorcycle shop in Deerfield Beach, in Florida.

Following this, two masked men are alleged to have got out of the SUV and intended to rob the 20-year-old rapper who had a Louis Vuitton bag with $50,000 inside, according to the police.

A struggle then allegedly ensued and the rapper was shot multiple times by one or more gunman, who took the bag and fled, authorities said. The indictment names Boatwright as the person accused of fatally shooting him.

Williams was arrested two days after the shooting, and Boatwright was arrested earlier this month on an unrelated drug charge. Authorities continue to search for Allen and Newsmen.

XXXtentacion was a rising star in hip-hop, but was continuously battling controversy during his career.

At the time of his death, he was facing 15 felony charges, including counts of false imprisonment, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and domestic battery by strangulation, for alleged incidents involving his ex-girlfriend in 2016.
