Fundraiser t-shirts launched to support Windrush generation


A MOTHER/Daughter duo have launched a fundraising campaign to support the Windrush generation, in the year that marks 70 years since the HMT SS Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks.

The #WEAREALLWINDRUSH campaign started by Gillian Evans and Fola Evans-Akingbola, has launched an online t-shirt store, including artwork designed by London-based illustrator Cressida Djambov, in an aim to build awareness and raise funds to support the people of the Windrush generation who have been affected by the recent immigration scandal.

Speaking to The Voice, Gillian Evans and Fola Evans-Akingbola said: "We're outraged by the disgraceful immigration policies, which have made certain kinds of British citizens suddenly feel uncertain and marginal.

We felt compelled to raise awareness and funds in support of the Windrush Generation and we were moved to honour and celebrate the Windrush Generation as integral to the very idea of what it means to be British."

"The #WEAREALLWINDRUSH campaign stands for a society that is inclusive, diverse and celebrates everybody," they added.

"It honours the richness the Windrush Generation and their descendants have brought to society and the fact that Britain is better for their contribution. Their history is our history."
