Future husband: Ciara is bride to be

ENGAGED: Future and Ciara (PA)

R&B SINGER Ciara and rapper Future are the next couple to walk down the aisle after they officially got engaged over the weekend.

Ciara was celebrating her 28th birthday in New York when Future proposed with a 15-carat ring, according to their publicist Chris Chambers.

No date has been set by the couple who have been in a relationship for nearly a year, and appeared together in Ciara's VMA-nominated video Body Party.

The bride-to-be took to Twitter over the weekend to express her excitement about the engagement.

“Today Has 2 Be Like One Of The Sweetest Days Of My Life! #TheBestBirthdayEver," she said.

"If I'm Dreaming I Don't Want To Wake Up..Aaaaaahhh!!!"

Previously, in a radio interview with Power 99’s Mina SayWhat, Ciara spoke about why she decided to go public with their relationship.

“I’m happy. I’m with somebody that makes me feel very comfortable,” she said.

It was only a few months ago that her future husband opened up about his feelings in an interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97, revealing that he knew Ciara was “the one” when he first laid eyes on her.

The pair was introduced via mutual friend however; the Atlanta native admitted that he was not ready at the time.

Despite this the confident rapper said he always knew that they were meant to be together.

“This is it…this the one", he said.

"I said it seven years ago so for it to come around and it happen, it was just meant to be.”

Future is set to release his second album Honest on November 26.
