Game accused of 'blasphemy' over new album cover

CONTOVERSY: Game's Jesus Piece album cover

US RAPPER Game has caused controversy with his latest album cover which appears to depict Jesus as a ‘blood gang’ member.

The artwork for Jesus Piece has been branded as ‘blasphemy’ by many upset Christians and fans, because it shows a black Christ-like figure wearing a bandana over his mouth, a gold chain around his neck and a tear drop tattoo under his eye.

One commentator on Twitter wrote on the controversial artwork: “I just saw the Photo Cover on the latest album of The Game...*Tears in my eyes* [sic].”

“The Game's new album cover is kinda disrespectful [sic],” another added.

One angry user concluded: “The Game's album cover obviously won't offend you if you're not Christian/Catholic, or if you don't really care for Jesus [sic].”

Game, who claims to be a devote Christian, also took to the social networking site earlier today [Oct 23] to defuse the situation, writing: “My album cover is art & represents small pieces of things that I have embodied, embraced, struggled, grown with [sic].”

When speaking to Jenny Boom Boom TV - earlier this year, the rapper said: "I still love the strip club and I still smoke and drink. I'm faithful to my family, so I wanted to make an album where you could love God and be of God, but still get it poppin' in your life."

Jesus Piece will be available to buy via Interscope on December 11.
