Games Makers key to London 2012

IMPORTANT: London 2012 Games Makers

CONTRARY TO popular belief you don't have to run the 100 metres in under 10 seconds to get involved with the greatest show on earth that is the Olympics.

The first time volunteers were used was in the 1948 London Games and this time around organisers need up to 70,000 people to give up some of their free time.

Volunteering will not all be about having fun or sitting on the side of the running track. Those who put themselves forward will be required to work hard and commit to the role they are given to undertake.

The Games Makers roles' will cover a variety of fields with some of these jobs expecting people to work during unsociable hours. Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles including sales, media, transport and technology.

Lord Sebastian Coe said: “London 2012 is relying on the brilliant Games Makers to help deliver a great Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
