Get Active heads to The Copper Box

POPULAR: Netball in Britain is on the rise

ONE OF east London’s longest running not-for-profit netball leagues is set to host their annual tournament at The Copper Box Arena next month and organisers have urged locals to get involved.

GA Netball, a community social league which has engaged with more than 1,000 women in the seven years it has been running promoting Back to Netball initiatives, fitness programmes and tournaments, heads to the iconic venue at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on September 10.

The day celebrates netball in a unique way by hosting a number of divisions:

- The Club Division, for established clubs/ teams.

- The Mixed Division, where male and female players compete together in an exciting, fast paced netball match, a must see event.

In previous years the biggest draw for the day is celebrating the Back 2 Netball Teams who are newly-formed, consisting of people who play at a social level. Friends and family are all invited to share in the fun.

Co-founder of GA Netball, Erica Owusu-Boateng, said grassroots netball in Britain was on the rise and it was important that events available to the public were as inclusive as they could be.

“It’s not too late to sign up for the day so if you play regularly, sometimes or haven’t played for a while but love the sport, come and have a look at what’s happening at The Copper Box Arena on September 10.

“At Get Active Solutions we pride ourselves with providing a great way for people to be part of a team, get fit and have fun.

“Many thanks to our partners, London Borough of Hackney and GLL who make this event possible.”

Get Active Solutions CiC host their fourth GA Netball Tournament on September 10, 10am-4pm at The Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. If you are interested and want to be involved; volunteer, enter a team or as an individual, click here.
