GOLDEN GIRL: Olympic 100m gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

SHELLY-ANN FRASER-PRYCE gave the United Kingdom’s Jamaican community a reason to cheer as she retained her 100m Olympic title.

It was a tightly contested race that saw six of the eight sprinters run under 11 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce got a clean start and she maintained her stance to finish 300 tenths of a second ahead of Jamaica’s Carmilita Jeter.

Her fellow Jamaican, Veronica Campbell took the bronze with 10.81, one of the fastest ever bronze medal times.

The 25-year-old is only the third female to retain her 100m gold medal in consecutive Olympics after; Wyomia Tyus in 1964 and 1968, and Gail Devers in 1992 and 1996.
