Hackney children set for borough’s first Holiday Bible Week

SUMMER CAMP: Tyssen Community school where Holiday Bible Week Hackney will take place

THE FIRST ever Hackney Holiday Bible Week is to be held later this month.

The week, a free summer camp that allows children to have fun while socialising and learning about the Bible, is to be held from July 25 to July 29 at the Tyssen Community school, Old Hill Street near Stamford Hill in Hackney.

“We are facilitating a week long holiday camp based on the Bible for five to 11-year-olds. It runs from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. We are hoping to get between 150 to 200 children,” said organiser, Tina Baptiste.

During the week, children will get the chance to sing, dance, learn and play. Parents are being asked to register the children, provide them with a packed lunch and make sure they are wearing trainers and comfortable clothes.

Baptiste, who attends Hackney-based church, Christian Life City (CLC), added: “The message we want to send out is that it is a free holiday camp. It’s safe. All volunteers are CRB checked and it’s a secure location. Let your children have a fun holiday club rather than stay home and be bored. Let them come and learn for a week.”

Similar annual Holiday Bible Week summer camps have been held in other parts of the country including Enfield in London and Bishop's Stortford, east Hertfordshire.
