Haye to fight Charr in summer showdown

FORMER HEAVYWEIGHT world champion David Haye has confirmed that he will be fighting the world rated Manuel Charr at the Manchester Arena on June 29.

Nicknamed ‘The Hayemaker’, it will be Haye’s first contest since last July where he stopped Dereck Chisora in the fifth round at Upton Park.

Born in Lebanon, the German-based Charr’s biggest bout to date was an unsuccessful bid at claiming the WBC title against Vitali Klitschko in September 2012 where was stopped in the fourth round by the Ukrainian due to a cut above his right eye.

Haye has previously stated that he wants to become mandatory challenger in order to fight Vitali or his younger brother Wladimir, who both hold portions of all the major world heavyweight titles.

The 32-year-old also announced that he has signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Sports, meaning that his summer comeback will be televised on Sky Sports.
