Holiday Inn Caribbean Experience still going strong 20 years

Caribbean Cuisine: Popular dishes such as jerk chicken, oxtail, rice and peas and Caribbean-style macaroni and cheese are all on offer

THE FORTNIGHTLY Caribbean Experience staged at the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum, Cromwell Road, south west London, is celebrating 20 years of providing Londoners with a unique taste of the islands, mixed with superb dancing music every other Saturday night starting at 7.30 pm to 1.00 am.

Conceived in 1998 as a monthly Caribbean-themed party, its popularity has made it become one of the staple events that now caters to a wide-cross section of patrons, including other nationalities eager to sample the authentic Caribbean cuisine as well as enjoy live entertainment plus dancing to Soca, Reggae and R&B music provided by top class club DJs.

The Caribbean Experience is now staged every other Saturday night and tables can be reserved for individuals or groups. Dress code is smart casual and the cover price includes unlimited food. Rum punch along with other drinks is available with a 25% discount if pre-ordered when guests are booking their event.

Jocky Chazhoor, the event manager at the Holiday Inn, said: “We are proud of the success of the Caribbean Experience which has been going for 20 years. We have managed to produce a unique event which our patrons love and they always come back for more and bring their friends along. We have regulars that have been here from the start which indicate that the product has a winning formula.

DINING: Guests enjoy a taste of the Caribbean

“Our award-winning chefs Jamel Dankwah and Adrian Lucas are the two Caribbean experts who mainly produce the mouth-watering meals for the events while our live entertainment features Steel Band artist Brent Holder who then gives way to popular DJ Michael Forbes who always keep the crowd on the dance floor until closing time.

“We cater to any individuals or groups who are planning birthdays or anniversary celebrations, as well as companies which might be having a staff night out or just entertaining their business clients. We have a full year schedule and the busiest time of the year for us is usually Christmas with bookings being made up to six months in advance. We can take table reservations at any time, but always encourage our patrons to book in advance.”

I had an opportunity to visit the Caribbean Experience last December and can vouch that it is one of the best night out my party and I had. The food court was constantly re-supplied with popular dishes like jerk chicken, oxtail, rice and peas, Caribbean-style macaroni and cheese, ham and roast beef as well as a variety of vegetables and salad. The dessert spread was delicious to look at and the rum punch had that real Caribbean flavour throughout.

You too can enjoy the Caribbean Experience by booking online or by email to: or telephone 0207 341 3099.

The dates for the remainder of the year are: May - 12 and 26; June - 9 and 23; July - 7 and 21; August – 4; September 8 and 22; October 13 and 27; November 17.
