TIGER MAN: Idris Elba (PA)

HOLLYWOOD STAR Idris Elba will voice the part of murderous tiger Shere Khan for the upcoming remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book.

The 41-year-old British actor, who played Nelson Mandela in the recent Long Walk To Freedom biopic, is understood to be signing an agreement to take on the role in the iconic children’s movie.

The new Jungle Book is to be directed by Oscar-winning visual effects designer Rob Legato, whose CV includes work on Titanic, Hugo and Avatar.

Disney faces competition from Warner Bros, with the rival studio planning their own version of the classic Rudyard Kipling book.

The role for Elba would represent his first major involvement in an animated project.
