'It was a blessing in disguise'

RECOVERY: Jason Derulo is on the mend

AFTER BREAKING his neck in an almost fatal accident earlier this year, singer Jason Derulo, has called his injury a 'blessing in disguise'.

The R'n'B star, who fell off the stage in Miami as he prepared for his tour, says that the accident has allowed him to 'slow down' and refocus.

Speaking to BET he said: "Through this process the world has been able to slow down a bit and I got a chance to take in everything that’s happened to me — all the blessings — and really focus on what’s important in life, which is my loved ones."

He added: "It’s been a blessing in disguise because I’m able to tell this story and try to inspire others. Once you get knocked down, it doesn’t mean you’ve gotta stay down."

The 22-year-old, who is dating fellow popstar Jordin Sparks, also confessed to hiding his pain in order to protect the people around him.

He continued: "I mean, yeah. You have those days where it’s just really difficult. You’re in so much pain, and me, personally, I don’t like to put my pain on other people. So a lot of times I’ll hold in my pain so the people are good."

The Watcha Say hit-maker is expected to make a full recovery.
