'Lauryn Hill to me is the goddess'

OPENING UP: Nicki Minaj pays homage to female rappers

RAPPER NICKI Minaj has paid homage to a host of females in the music industry that she claims have contributed to her success.

In an interview with Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex, the Starships hit-maker praised a host of rappers including Remy Ma, Foxy Brown, Missy Elliott and Da Brat, for inspiring her music and career.

The 29-year-old also expressed her disappointment at failing to get rapper and singer, Lauryn Hill, to feature on her latest album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

Nicki told Flex: "I wanted to get her on Champion. That would have been crazy, right? She was my fave. Lauryn to me is the goddess. I'd love to meet her. I'm pretty sure she's heard me talk about her a billion times."

Speaking on Fly With Me star, Foxy Brown, she continued: "She [Foxy Brown] was one of my faves. I had connected with her a lot just because she's Trini and I'm Trini, and I always though if I meet her, she would understand me."

"Foxy Brown was my friend in my head," she added.

The news comes after the Young Money member had a very public dispute with self-proclaimed queen of hip-hop, Lil Kim, who once declared a musical war against Nicki.
