Man, 24, charged with double murder of aunt and her nephew

MURDERED: Annie Besala Ekofo and Bervil Kalikaka-Ekofo

A MAN has been charged with double murder after the shooting of a mother-of-nine and her nephew.

Yesterday (Sept 20), Obina Ezeoke, 24, was charged with the murders of Annie Besala Ekofo, and her nephew Bervil Kalikaka-Ekofo, 21.

They were gunned down at a flat in East Finchley, north London, on September 15.

Scotland Yard said Ezeoke, of no fixed address, is to appear in custody at Hendon magistrates court in north-west London today (Sept 21).

Police launched a murder investigation after they were called to reports of a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Maymie Botaba Chantelle, Kalikaka-Ekofo’s mother, revealed that her son was studying psychology at the University of West London.

Paying tribute she said: “His character and soul was beyond comparison, and it goes without a doubt that he will be truly and deeply missed by his family.”

A statement released by Besala Ekofo’s family described the mother of nine as the glue that kept everyone together and a comforting voice in the hardest situations.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 6.25am last week Thursday to reports of two people injured at an address in Elmshurst Crescent.

Officers attended the address and found Besala Ekofo, 53 and her 21-year-old nephew suffering from gunshot injuries. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other people, including a child, who were also inside the address at the time were not harmed.
