Man charged with fatal rush hour shooting

KILLED: Marcus Innocent

A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the rush hour murder of a man in south London.

Daniel Burgess, 32, will appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court today accused of shooting dead 35-year-old Marcus Innocent on a busy London street on Dec 21.

It is believed that Mr Innocent was set upon by a group of 15-20 people moments before he was killed.

Prior to the murder, the group, described as black and white individuals, were seen congregating behind a parade of shops in Kingsman Street at the junction with Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich.

Police believe the victim was initially set upon by one person within this group and then by a larger number after which he was shot.

Some of the group were seen to run down Lord Warwick Street towards Frances Street whilst others got into cars parked in Lord Warwick Street by the rear of the shops. These cars then made off from the scene.

Three men were arrested in the days following the fatal shooting.
