HE'S BEEN a professional Mixed Martial Artist for ten years and has vowed never to give up on his quest to become a champion in the UFC light heavyweight division.

On March 17 Jimi Manuwa will get the chance to start making headway towards the direction of division champion when he takes on Jan Blachowicz.

Before then however, Manuwa answered a few questions about what make him tick.

When and why did you start training for fighting?

I started training in 2008 with no martial arts background. I started training because it was interesting to me and I thought I’d be good at it.

What ranks and titles have you held?

UK light heavyweight number 1 - UCMMA LHW champion

Do you have any heroes?

Mike Tyson because I liked his style and aggression!

Talk about your training

A typical day of training consists of improving all my techniques in all areas, depending on what I’m training that day. I’ll do strength and conditioning midday, then rest until early evening, then wrestle, and it’s boxing techniques and pads at night.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?

What was your job before youstarted fighting?

Car dealer and worked in a car rental business.

Favourite grappling technique?

Favourite striking technique?

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?

It means everything to me. It’s what I’ve worked for since I’ve started training, but getting there is not enough; I’ll keep working until I am champion and a UFC legend.
