Mo Farah wins his first marathon

MO FARAH has set a new record after winning his first marathon in Chicago.

The 35-year-old, who came third in this year's London Marathon, secured a new European record with a time of two hours, five minutes and 11 seconds.

He is the first British man to win the Chicago race since Paul Evans in 1996.

Speak after his win, Farah told reporters: “It was amazing to cross the finish line first. This is a major marathon.”

This is only Farah's third time that he has raced a marathon. In his first attempt, he finished eighth in London in 2014, with a time of 2:08:21.

According to Reuters, after a break, Farah is likely to turn his attention to more gold, first at the 2019 Doha world championships and then the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
