THE MP for Leyton and Wanstead, John Cryer, has called for urgent action and an apology from Ryanair following the racial abuse of one of its passengers.

Delise Gayle, 77, was on board a flight back to London with her daughter Carol, when she was subjected to racial abuse from David Mesher, 75, who called her an “ugly black b******” and “stupid ugly cow.”

While Mr Mesher has faced scrutiny for his comments, many are calling for the airline to issue an apology, and Mr Cryer is keen to take action against the airline.

He said: "I was appalled to learn of the vile abuse my constituent Delsie endured on a Ryanair flight back from Barcelona. The verbal abuse was graphic and completely unacceptable.

“Ryanair management are accountable and urgent action need to be taken - starting with an unreserved apology to my constituent."

According to guardian-series.co.uk, Mr Cryer has tabled a Parliamentary early day motion in support of Mrs Gayle, calling on Ryanair to conduct an immediate inquiry and apologise to his constituent.

Ryanair has released a statement saying it has referred the matter to the police and insisted it has issued a written apology to Mrs Gayle.
