OPENING UP: Blogger Necole Kane

POPULAR US blogger and entrepreneur Necole Kane - formerly of - has released a candid video discussing her career highs and lows.

She recalls her journey from being jobless to building a successful career as a celebrity gossip blogger and then giving it all up to launch new site xoNecole.

“Over the past year, I’ve seen many people comment to me that my life is #goals,” she says.

“That my rebrand was flawless and I’ve been looked at as though I have the golden touch. That is far from the truth. It was a complete struggle to get to the happy place I’m currently in.”

Moving in with her aunt at age 25 after struggling to find a job, Kane talks about the early beginnings of After her aunt kicked her out—what she calls “the best thing that could’ve ever happened in her life,” she jetted down to Atlanta where her blog really took off.

On July 2, 2015 she ended the site and headed to Mexico for a week to clear her head—before deciding to create a new site—xoNecole—centered on telling positive stories about women of color. But just as quickly as the new brand took off, money ran out—Necole tearfully recalled in the video.

I started to think about how I ended up and here and realised I made so many mistakes. And the number one mistake I made was trying to live up to the expectations of other people and trying to compete with my old success.”

“Right now it’s a total mess … it’s not a total mess. I’m cleaning up the mess,” she continued. “I am at the tail end of girl you are a mess, but girl you are getting there.”
