Neymar wants to nab gold in the summer

ONE OF the most promising forwards in world football has expressed his desire to win gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games for Brazil.

Talented Santos striker Neymar declared that he has his sights firmly set on capturing gold in London in the summer.

Nicknamed the Samba Boys, Brazil meet Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand in the group stages and the 20-year-old Neymar said: "I've already told the federation president that I'll bring the gold back to Brazil. I don't know a lot about our opponents but we have to respect all of them because they all made it to the Olympics.

"Hopefully we will be able to play well and advance."

Legendary double World Cup winner Pele has hailed Neymar as the best player in the world but Neymar believes that Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo are in a league of their own.

“I'm obviously happy to be praised by someone like Pele. But to me Messi is the best player in the world,” said Neymar.

“There is also Cristiano Ronaldo and a few other names ahead of me right now. When I'm playing, it's an incredible joy. It's what I love, it's what I like doing.

"That's why I always tweet before matches that I'm about to go do what I like doing the most."

Five-time World Cup winners Brazil will play Team GB in an Olympic warm-up fixture at the Riverside Stadium on July 20.
