Nike renews controversial athlete’s contract

NIKE HAS renewed their contract with controversial athlete Michael Vick four years after they dropped him following his controversial dog fighting saga.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback had his contract with the company terminated August 2007 after he was found guilty of being involved in running an illegal dog-fighting ring.

Vick spent 21 months in jail and was dropped from his team.

Nike said: “Michael acknowledges his past. We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”

Vick’s Attorney, Andrew Stroth, said: “Michael is committed to working with Nike and wants to utilize his platform as a professional athlete to have a positive impact on our youth.”

The details of the endorsement deal is yet to be confirmed.
