A MAN has been arrested in connection with the murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle who was shot dead in Los Angeles, police investigating his death have said.

Eric Holder was taken into custody by officers from the Los Angeles police on Tuesday after the Los Angeles Police Department worked “feverishly” to track down the individual responsible.

Hussle, whose real name is Ermias Asghedom, was shot dead outside his clothing store in south LA on Sunday during broad daylight.

He was due to meet with the LAPD the following day to discuss solutions to gang violence and helping vulnerable young people.

Video evidence showed Holder, 29, walked up to Hussle and spoke to him several times on Sunday before he returned armed with a handgun and “purposely and repeatedly” shot him, police said.

While in his youth Hussle had been connected with the Rollin 60’s, a gang linked to the Crips, he had turned his life around and was an active community organiser, committed to helping young people pursue and have access to positive opportunities.

Police have said that the reasoning for the argument between Hussle and Holder “appears to be a personal matter”.

The relationship between Holder and Hussle, 33, has not been expanded upon by police.

The parking spaces where the Grammy-nominated rapper was murdered have been turned into an informal memorial site, with loved ones and friends leaving candles and tributes to the slain rapper.

Legacy
Celebrities have continued to pay tribute to the rapper. And some even appear to be deciding on how to preserve his legacy by picking up his work where he left off. Nick Cannon to finish the documentary on herbalist Dr Sebi that Hussle was making before he died.

Alfredo Bowman, widely known as Dr Sebi, was a herbalist who controversially claimed his diet of low alkaline foods could cure people living with AIDS.

Cannon has posted several videos on his Instagram page that have fans speculating if he will takeover the project.

In the tribute post to Hussle, Cannon posted a picture of the pair laughing.

He captioned it with the words: “And the Lord said, ‘Job well done my son…’ @nipseyhussle King, this is how I want to remember you! Laughing! Smiling! I ain’t slept yet, thinking about our conversations! Real ones from a real one! And I’m gonna say this only for the real ones to recognize [sic]. Where you left off, we gonna carry one! It’s a MARATHON, so I’m picking up the baton! Because they can’t kill us all! Spiritual warfare is REAL and in full effect. And now your spirit is protecting your community eternally! Your words, your steps, your walk always was and always will be SOLID! Now, Your message is my message! Your work is my work! I know you still rocking with us and your voice will never be silenced, because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Most High! So now that you are at peace don’t rest... Keep leading... Keep shining, King! Cosmic love, my brotha!”

In one of three videos of Dr Sebi that Cannon posted on his page, he wrote the caption caption: “We have to take responsibility for our own! #Marathon #DrSebi @dietaryresolutions @NipseyHussle.”
