'No love for black talent from the BRIT Awards'

BRITS: Emeli Sandé arrives to hear the nominations for BRIT awards at the Savoy Hotel in London on January 12.

BRITAIN’S TOP music ceremony, the BRIT Awards, is ignoring too many black musical acts, say respondents in a Voice online poll.

With just two of this year’s 48 nominees being black, Voice readers were asked ‘Do you think that the BRIT Awards successfully represent black talent?’

An overwhelming 85 percent of readers responded no, indicating that they did not believe the BRIT awards successfully represents black talent.

Nominated this year are X Factor runners-up, boy band JLS, named in the category British Single and newcomer Emeli Sandé, vying for the Best Breakthrough Act gong.
