Obama's uncle risks deportation

LEGAL: President Barack Obama's uncle appeared in court for drinking under influence charges

BARACK OBAMA'S uncle appeared in court last week (Nov 17) to face charges of drink driving.

Onyango Obama, 67, who was arrested on Aug 24 after failing several sobriety tests, reportedly dismissed all charges against him, which included, operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.

His lawyer P. Scott Bratton claims that police had no reason to pull Obama Snr over.

"He wasn't committing any motor vehicle violations at the time. That's our position," he said.

The Kenyan native, who is the half-brother of the president's late father, has been living illegally in the US and is believed to have had an earlier deportation or removal order. He risks being deported back to Kenya if found guilty.

The White House has said it expects the arrest of Onyango Obama to be handled like any other case.

The case continues.
