Odemwingie punished for improper conduct

AFTER BEING filmed outside of another football club on transfer deadline day last month, West Bromwich Albion have disciplined Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie.

The 31-year-old, who had two transfer requests rejected by the West Midlands club, was in London to talk to officials from Queens Park Rangers but a deal fell through.

The striker has since apologised for his actions and is available for the Baggies’ next fixture against Liverpool on February 11.

"This has been an extremely difficult time for the club and it was imperative that we dealt with such a serious matter both fully and correctly,” said WBA chairman Jeremy Peace in a statement.

"We made our position very clear throughout - both privately to Peter and publicly.

"Peter has apologised for his conduct to me personally and the club and our supporters as a whole.”

Peace added: "He has accepted his punishment and promised to comply with all club regulations moving forward.”
