One community celebrating Africa at Kitenge Festival!

THE 6TH annual Kitenge Festival is one of the biggest annual cultural events bringing all African businesses and startups to communities gathering in London.

The event, which takes place August 11, will feature African themed businesses, live music, fashion shows, fascinating talks, creative workshops, tasty freshly cooked food and many more.

The Kitenge Festival is for the general public to attend and will also include influential figures, community leaders, movers and shakers and taste makers that take active roles in setting the mould for style, cultural trends and overall ingenuity within the African Community.

Last year, they had an audience of around 800 guests and this year they’re looking to double that.
Their goal is to bring together bright minds and industry insiders to give talks that are focused on a wide range of subjects to foster business, learning, inspiration and provoke conversations.

This event will be promoted as London’s premier cultural event featuring great music, live performances, networking, product sampling, African cuisine, vendor, stalls, gift bags, cultural dancers, competitions, poetry, fashion shows and craft displays.

Kitenge Festival was founded by Jo Nganda and will be hosted by Miss Uganda UK founder Mrs Jacqueline Matovu Dumba and JCI Greenwich Marketing Excutive Mr Hope Tariro Chirengwa.

A carefully selected panel of community leaders championing Africa’s agenda include: Ovi King, Hair Care Revolution, Dr. Mercy Chieza Equipped for Excellence, Mary Mambwa, In Her Mind, Mama Sia AHBA Award Winners, Fikelelphi Jackson Against all Odds Still Standing and Arya Badia who will be helping entrepreneurs that struggle with fears.

The importance of empowering Kitenge Festival UK’s role in the community is very important for all our social responsibility. This event is aimed at:

- Strengthening community cohesion
- Peer promotion and bringing artists together
- Promoting small business enterprises
- Empowering those participating through motivational speakers
- transforming lives through youth initiatives and annual fundraising events to help victims of domestic abuse in the community through their charity program Hope Alive Mission.

This year, the initiative will be fundraising for SafeLives, a small charity that campaigns and supports victims of domestic abuse.
