Outkast's Big Boi says upcoming reunion is for fans

REUNION: Outkast's Andre 3000, left, and Big Boi in 2003 (PA)

OUTKAST'S RAPPER Big Boi has spoken out for the first time about his upcoming reunion with Andre 3000 at Coachella, the Californian music festival in April.

“We are celebrating 20 years, a milestone in our careers, and it’s for the fans", he told REVOLT TV at HBO’s Game of Thrones fourth season premiere at Sundance in Park City, Utah.

“I can’t wait to get on stage with my brother Three Stacks and kill ‘em", Big Boi said.

“It's a long time to still be doing music at a high caliber and having fun doing it”.

The headliners will also play New York City’s Governors Ball in June, and have lined up a string of 40 other festival dates for the spring and summer to “celebrate the 20th anniversary of their unique and influential sound.”

Big Boi, whose real name is Antwan Patton, said in a statement: "It's truly an honour to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose.

"Don't just think outside the box; know that there is no box. I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski.”

OutKast went on hiatus in 2007 and have not performed together since 2004, and both members have enjoyed success in their solo careers.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the pair's 1994 debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.
