Police make 12th arrest over east London double murder

MURDER VICTIMS: Aaron Carriere, left, and Josiah Manful

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the double murder of two men in east London have made their 12th arrest in connection to the killings.

A 19-year-old man was arrested over the weekend (Mar 8) on suspicion of the murder of Aaron Carriere, 21, and Josiah Manful, 20, who were killed during the early hours of March 1 in Leytonstone.

A post-mortem found that they were both stabbed to death.

Both victims were found in a black Ford Fiesta car suffering from stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene in Montague Road.

Police are appealing for information about the murders, and detective chief inspector Neil Attewell said: “One week on from the double murder we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the attack or the events leading up to the murders.

“We have made a number of arrests but we still require the help and assistance of those in the local community who have any knowledge as to why Aaron and Josiah were brutally targeted. Someone knows the reason why these two young men murdered and I am urging those who hold the information not to remain silent but to come forward.

“Extensive enquires into the events of that day continue and we now know that there were four other vehicles in and around Montague Road at the time of the murders. I am appealing for the occupants of those vehicles to come forward and assist us with our investigation.”

Police have arrested a total of 12 people in connection with the double murder. Except for the most recent arrest of the 19-year-old suspect, all other suspects have been bailed pending further inquiries.
