POLICE ARE treating a blaze at the home of JLS star Oritse Williams’ home as suspected arson.

The fire spread through the property causing extensive damage just days after Williams was acquitted of raping a fan in a hotel room in December 2016.

Williams was found not guilty on May 28 by a jury of eight women and four men. He said he had consensual sex with the 20-year-old woman.

Williams’ tour manager Jamien Nagadhana was also found not guilty of all charges.

On Tuesday, his home in Spout Hill, Croydon, was set on fire. The flames damaged the first and second floors as well as part of the roof.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters attended the scene to get the blaze under control.

In a statement, the London Fire Brigade said: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a derelict property on Spout Hill in Croydon.

“Part of the first and second floor of a detached three-storey building were damaged by fire. A small part of the roof was also damaged.”

“Officers attended with London Fire Brigade.

"There were no reported injuries. There have been no arrests.

"At this stage, the incident is being treated as suspicious. The cause of the fire is under investigation,” The Sun reported the police said in a statement.

Williams had not been living in the property. It is not known when he vacated the residence but pictures of the property published by The Sun in November 2018 showed the mansion had broken windows, discarded furniture and a pool full of green water.

In the aftermath of the jury's not guilty verdict, Williams was publicly supported by former JLS members.

In an Instagram post, Marvin Humes wrote: "Cleared..Not Guilty! Finally my brother @oritsemusic three years of hell is over! No-one will ever know or imagine what he’s been through..

"I’m just so proud of the way he conducted himself during what has been the most awful time..he is so strong and I know he can’t wait to start his life again now..We love you O."

Chloe Gill, the wife of fellow former JLS member JB, described him as "a generally nice guy" in a character witness statement read out in court.
