Prince Harry & Oprah team up for mental health TV series

TEAMING UP: Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey

PRINCE HARRY has announced plants to create a TV series with Oprah Winfrey about mental health.

The documentary series, which will be screen on the new Apple TV+ online platform, will aim to empower people who “silently suffer” with depression and other mental health conditions, encouraging them to get help.

He will co-create and co-produce the series alongside Ms Winfrey and they have reportedly been working on ideas for several months.

Harry said today: “I truly believe that good mental health - mental fitness - is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self.

"It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times.

"Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive - sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better.

"I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series which we have been developing together for several months.”

Speaking on her role in the series, Oprah said: “What I know is, if we do our jobs right, we’re going to replace shame and we’re going to replace stigma with wisdom, with some compassion and with honesty.”

The news of the docu-series follows The Duke of Sussex’s continuous work to raise awareness towards mental health.

Alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton, Harry launched the Heads Together charity in 2016, which aims to help people in the UK and Commonwealth to access suport.

The untitled series is set to broadcast in 2020.
